What's the R club?
The purpose of this club is to meet monthly for half a day and have an exchange on coding to help each other. In Ecology, we learn to code mainly by ourselves, with very few chances to compare our programming habits. In this colloquium, we aim to run and revise each other's scripts and discuss about current developments in R coding. For this, we either build groups, so that people doing similar analysis can exchange and improve both their coding and reproducibility skills, or we discuss insights or questions in the plenum. We are convinced that exchanging about coding is one of the best ways to improve our skills in this area and keep motivated. We cover new topics each semester, therefore the colloquium can be attended multiple times.
We recommend the participants to have followed an introductory R course (e.g. being able to load packages, creating a very simple plot, load data), but also encourage students with low experience in R to join us as well. We will adapt the assignment to your level or R. However, this is not a structured R course, but a platform to exchange about your current R questions and insights.
When and where can I join the R club?
Where do I register on KSL/ILIAS (for students)?
As a student you can get 1 ECTS per semester by registering on KSL and ILIAS before the 28th of February 2025, but even after that you can spontenously join us by sending me an email (but without registration on KSL/ILIAS you won't get ECTS)
